Stress and Rescue Class - June 12/13, 2010
Already have your Open Water certification and you are ready to go to the next level? Stress and Rescue would be a good place to start. Join us the weekend of June 12th and 13th at Pt. Whitney in Brinnon, WA. The Stress/Rescue exercises will be in the afternoons due to students doing O/W certification in the mornings. We expect to be done by 3:00 pm on Sunday.

RRF member cost is $60, nonmember cost is $70 and includes your training, materials and certification card. You are responsible for providing your own equipment for the class and food/lodging costs. We can give you information on the motel that most of us usually use. See contact information below to sign up or if you have questions.

Gay Pride - June 19/20, 2010
Once again, we will have a booth at Gay Pride. We need people to help staff the booth, for people to help set and take down the booth. We want everyone to drop by and see us and to help inspire the next generation of divers. Contact the secretary below to let us know you are interested in helping.

Summer - Open Water Certification - August, 2010
This is often known as our “Pride” class as we tend to have a lot of students sign up from Gay Pride. This course will be a little different than other sessions we have held. It will be partially online! This plan might be easier for your busy summer schedule!

We will meet on three Sundays at Steve’s Scuba for brief class sessions (3-5 PM) followed by our standard pool sessions (5:30-8:30 PM) at Mt. Scott pool. We will be holding the Open Water Certification over Labor Day weekend (arrive Friday night, done Sunday afternoon) although we haven’t scheduled a location yet. Class costs are $335 for non-members, $300 for members.

General Class Information

Open Water Certification

We regularly offer Open Water Certification courses for people who are interested in learning to become SCUBA divers. Classes are about six weeks long and consist of course materials for review at home; 3 nights in the classroom work, 3 nights of work in a pool and then culminate with a weekend where you do your Open Water Certification. This just means putting all the skills you’ve learned in the classroom and pool into practice in a real situation - generally Hoodsport or Tacoma, Washington.

The cost is the class is $335 for non-members ($300 for RRF members). Costs for the class cover classroom materials, equipment for pool sessions and for the open water certification. We do encourage students to purchase their own dive boots, fins and mask. Additional costs for your food & lodging during your Open Water Certification are up to you, although we often use a place called “The Yellow House” which is a shared, hostel style location which gives us an inexpensive solution to both.

We occasionally have other classes such as Navigation/Night diving or Stress and Rescue. Other classes can be provided if we have enough interested. Just drop us a note and let us know what you are interested in taking.
